What next for Romney? Undercut Obama, raise money

(AP) ? What's next for Mitt Romney? The Republican presidential nomination finally in hand, he will spend the next three months trying to undercut President Barack Obama on the economy while portraying himself as Mr. Fix It for a nation with stubbornly and painfully high unemployment.

Romney also faces key decisions between now and his acceptance of the party's nomination in late August in Florida: Where should he compete most aggressively? Who should be his running mate?

At the same time, he must dive anew into fundraising and work to win over voters who are distracted by their own summer plans and day-to-day pocketbook worries ? while withstanding Obama's attacks on his own claims as a jobs creator.

Not that Romney is publicly sweating the hurdles that come with being the little-known challenger to a personally popular president.

"People will get to know me better," Romney told Fox News in an interview that aired Wednesday, the day after he sealed the GOP nomination with his primary election victory in Texas. He says the general election campaign is only beginning even though his chief challenger dropped out more than six weeks ago.

With a smile, he said of the voters, "My guess is they're going to get to know more about me than they'd like to by the time we're finished."

As if on cue, Obama's campaign opened a fresh critique of the GOP nominee-in-waiting, assailing his economic record as governor of Massachusetts. It's the second phase of an effort by Obama to define Romney negatively in voters' eyes. The Democrat already has spent weeks hammering the Republican on his record at the private equity company he founded.

Obama himself made a courtesy call to Romney to congratulate him on his nomination victory. An Obama aide said the president told Romney in a brief and cordial chat that he looked forward to debating America's future with him.

Romney spent the day in California, plunging into a week filled with fundraisers and efforts to unite Republicans after a divisive primary season. Already he's proven adept at both, hauling in enough cash to cut into the advantage that Obama has while getting most of his former Republican rivals to close ranks around him.

Those efforts ? and the turning of his primary campaign into a general election operation ? have been his prime focus. He's making only a handful of public appearances for now, but aides say they expect the campaign to ramp up to a full sprint by July 4. Romney has said he plans to take a week off around the holiday, suggesting that may be the time when he makes final deliberations on whom to choose as his vice presidential nominee.

Little is known about just where in that process Romney may be, though there is no shortage of Republican rising stars informally auditioning for the role.

While work on that front is certainly going on behind the scenes, Romney's aides are spending this week publicly pressing anew a criticism that the candidate himself has been making for months against Obama. They're highlighting the hundreds of millions of dollars in economic stimulus money that the administration provided to Solyndra, the solar-energy company that went bankrupt and whose executives had contributed to Obama's campaign.

It is a sign of the overarching argument Romney will make against Obama in the coming weeks: that Obama's economic efforts have been politically motivated, have wasted taxpayer dollars and, ultimately, have failed.

The renewed Solyndra criticism is also an attempt to answer Obama's recent criticism ? in speeches and advertisements ? of Romney's tenure at the helm of Bain Capital. Obama has argued that Romney's time as a private equity executive before entering politics ? the basis for his campaign's claim that he's best suited to lead an economic recovery ? was aimed at enriching shareholders, not serving the public.

Romney largely survived that opening salvo, judging by early polls and interviews with both Republicans and Democrats.

National surveys show Obama either statistically tied with Romney or only slightly ahead of him. And polls in the most hotly contested states show Romney competitive with Obama.

"They haven't worked," GOP strategist Charlie Black, an informal Romney adviser, said of the Bain criticisms. "People are worried about the economy and jobs."

Democratic strategist Steve Elmendorf said too few voters had heard the argument.

"The reality is it's June," said Elmendorf. "To say the Bain argument has worked or not is ridiculously premature."

A handful of swing-voting states will be the most hard fought as Obama and Romney aggressively build get-out-the-vote organizations and air a flood of advertisements in their efforts to reach the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the White House.

Across the country, Romney's campaign is going through growing pains as it seeks to turn a stripped-down primary operation into a full-scale general election campaign. Aides say offices will open and more staff will join the team, but they also say they don't anticipate being able to match the staffing levels of Obama, who has had teams in place for months in states like Florida and Ohio. The Republican National Committee also is in the midst of boosting its staffing to help Romney.

Already, Obama's and Romney's campaigns, as well as super PACs supporting and opposing each, have spent more than $80 million in advertising on the general election campaign through the month of June, according to ad-tracking reports provided to The Associated Press by Smart Media Group of Alexandria, Va.

Of that, Obama's campaign has spent $31 million-plus on TV ads in about 10 states. He's been on the air most heavily in Florida, Iowa, Ohio and Virginia, an indication of where his team may think the race will be won or lost. A Democratic-leaning super PAC also has been on the air to help him, though it's spent only about $6.3 million.

Romney himself has run ads in just five battleground states: Iowa, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia. But he's been significantly helped by pro-Romney outside groups, who have been on the air in several others ? most heavily in Florida, Ohio and Virginia.

Even so, Republican outfits, including Romney's campaign and supporting super PACS, have combined to spend about as much as Obama and his allies. And in the coming weeks, Romney plans to focus heavily on fundraising so that he'll be able to make strategic decisions about where to devote most of it state by state.

To that end, Romney is spending the week courting donors in California, starting Wednesday in Fresno, Bakersfield and in Hillsborough, a wealthy enclave just outside San Francisco.

He planned major fundraising events Thursday, Friday and Saturday in southern California. On Tuesday, Romney was in Las Vegas wooing Sheldon Adelson, the primary financing source of a group that backed Newt Gingrich's failed primary campaign. And Romney also attended a fundraiser hosted by Donald Trump.

How To Get The Right Auto Insurance For Your Business | Honest ...

Car insurance is something that we associate with private citizens. In fact, it is almost unheard of for our places of work to secure car insurance for us. It is something that most of us have to do on our own. However, if you are in a business that involves driving from place to place, or transporting something, then car insurance becomes a business matter. If you?re in this situation, have you ever wondered how to get the right auto insurance for your business? Do you know how to do it? We can help you with a few tips.

For small businesses especially, commercial car insurance is one of the main expenses that have to be considered. Many have a false notion that affordable commercial insurance can be hard to find; however, a keen talent for research has proven that business owners can often find competitive commercial insurance rates just by performing quick online comparisons. These days, a lot, if not all insurance companies offer coverage for company cars, so it is not unusual to find special deals for them.

Those running businesses and wanting commercial car insurance should start off by knowing the insurance requirements in the state where the business is located. Some states actually do not require auto coverage at all. However, even in cases like this, car insurance is still advised because getting into a car accident can be devastating, financially, to a business that may not have enough money. It may also not be enough to have a personal insurance plan to cover the business car driver. More often than not, in the event of an accident, the opposite party may sue not only the driver, but the business as well. Another thing to be aware of is insurance companies usually do not cover personal plans if they find out that the car was used for business purposes at the time of the accident. All these contribute to why commercial car insurance is a must!

Businesses that have several vehicles, generally more than two, should opt for a car fleet policy instead. Instead of dealing with individual insurance coverage for each car the company has, the business can get a general policy for all the cars, and save time, effort, and of course, money! In a car fleet policy, specific liability limits are applied to every vehicle, meaning changing the limit to one car means changing it for all. Also, if an employee of the company is registered with the same insurance provider as the fleet, then they can drive any vehicles in the fleet and still be covered!

Obtaining the correct car business insurance can really be a great thing for any business out there. It provides businesses with the right amount of security and protection. In case of an accident, or if a lawsuit does happen, then these businesses could save lots of money, as well as hassle. If you are running a business, look into car fleet insurance plans today.

Outsourcing Vs In House IT Department ? The Outsource Blog

The decision whether to outsource IT support is one that an increasing number of companies are considering due to the advent of cloud computing. IT outsourcing has been going on since the early 1980s, but by allowing companies to pay on a ?per-use? basis for the outsourced services, the cloud has made IT support companies more affordable, accessible, and strategically flexible.

So the allure of IT outsourcing is greater than ever. But the fundamental question remains: How can it help my business?

IT Expertise

As with any outsourcing, a principle advantage is that the company you hire as your outsourcing partner will have IT know-how that most small and medium-sized businesses don?t have.

The IT world grows more complex daily, and it takes a great deal of expense and energy for a company to keep up with trends and opportunities for increased efficiency, while at the same time staying focused on its core competencies. However, staying on the cutting edge of IT developments is an IT outsourcer?s bread and butter.

Economies of Scale

IT hardware and software can be incredibly expensive. For small and medium-sized businesses, the IT cost management is often prohibitive. But even when a company can manage to afford the IT infrastructure and software it needs, it?s not always a wise investment when?by choosing to outsource IT support?you can benefit from the economies of scale created by their relatively heavy use of IT resources. Savings in this area are a key aspect of how companies that provide outsourced IT services make their costs so attractive.

Round the Clock Support

If you outsource IT support, no matter what time it is, you have immediate help when problems arise. That?s not always the case, particularly in smaller companies.

Scalability

Because of the pricing model and the IT knowledge you have access to when you outsource IT support, you can build an IT plan that is prepared to handle growth of your business. Particularly, with the emergence of cloud options, companies can now grow with assurance that they can handle increased business and that they won?t have to suddenly invest in hardware or software as they expand.

New Technology

Related to the last point, the decision to outsource IT support also means that you will be able to benefit from the latest hardware and software innovations without having to pay directly for them. You can get the latest-and-greatest as part of your ongoing relationship with your IT support partner.

Budget Control

Because you?re working on a contract basis with the vendor who provides your IT support, you can more easily forecast costs. There won?t be any dramatic unexpected expenses, and you also can have the peace of mind knowing that if business slows, so does your IT cost because of the pay-as-you-use pricing.

The Bottom Line

In many cases, the decision to outsource IT support will lead to greater efficiency and, therefore, higher profitability.

All about YouTube Marketing | Online Business Article Directory

?

Promoting a business can be extremely taxing, especially when you?re just getting started. If you?re into checking out marketing blogs, you?ve probably come across some information about YouTube marketing. This form of advertising falls under the umbrella of video advertising, which falls under the even larger umbrella of Internet marketing. Take a look at some specifics of this business strategy to deepen your understanding about its importance and utilize it to help popularize your products or services.

Why Online Video Advertising?

Video marketing is one of the leading advertising platforms on the Internet. People of all ages and from different backgrounds are taking advantage of this promotional opportunity in an effort to maximize the visibility of their business. It falls under the concept of showing rather than telling and continues to draw an abundance of viewers if done correctly. There are several types of video marketing. The primary kinds include article video marketing, viral video marketing and social video marketing. Individuals can utilize one or multiple forms according to their specific needs and intentions. If you?re not certain about how to implement videos, it?s a good idea to consult with a professional or consider audio production schools in your area that?ll provide thorough instruction:

Article Video Marketing ? This type of video marketing typically interests those who prefer the less time-consuming practice of watching informational videos rather than reading articles. Video marketing involves businesses or individuals developing numerous short clips that display the contents of articles written beforehand. Most videos are between two and five minutes and cover a wide range of topics. After the videos are created, they?re uploaded onto popular video-sharing websites to target an audience.

Articles can be converted into videos in a number of ways. One of the most popular ways is to turn the written pieces into a PowerPoint presentation or animated slideshow. Pictures and a voiceover narration are usually added to the presentation before it?s recorded via screen capture software and put on the Internet for viewing pleasure. An alternative involves recording an article and saving it as an MP3 file. Afterwards, video layout software is used to change the audio to a video. The finished product is then exported and uploaded to relevant websites for exposure.

Viral Video Marketing ? Another form of online video advertising is viral video marketing which contains humorous events, eyewitness incidents or clips from comedy sketches on television. Many clips are shot by amateurs on mobile devices and edited with the use of economical tools and software before being published on video sharing sites, social networking sites and personal websites.

Most viral videos are created as a dialogue and shared with the intention of entertaining family and friends, although many people use it as a way to engage prospective customers. This option has benefited word-of-mouth marketing and was preceded by email-sharing. These videos continue to increase in popularity in a variety of sectors, including education and music. However, fans of this concept must be careful not to violate copyright laws, as this has been a major downside to viral video-making and has been the result of several problems within the entertainment industry.

Social Video Marketing ? This choice is equally significant. Social video marketing (SVM) is similar to viral video marketing in that it engages a wide audience through the distribution of video. However, the notion of self-expression tends to be more evident. This form of video marketing relies heavily on social theory, consumer culture theory, and economic theory.

SVM also intends to leave a deeper contextual message, rather than simply being a pass-along model between sender and recipient. In other words, a more individualistic approach is taken and the finished product tends to have more depth as it forms solid relationships and builds trust between publishers and viewers.

Introducing YouTube

Despite the kind of video marketing used, many advertisers can attest to the benefits of sharing their clips on YouTube. This video-sharing site attracts millions of visitors on a regular basis and contains a large host of products, including music videos, TV clips, movie clips, video blogs, and original clips. Although mostly individuals upload videos on the site, several major corporations have been known to make contributions as well.

Content is constantly investigated by YouTube?s employees. Explicit or offensive material can only be viewed by registered users. This group also has the privilege of uploading videos, as well as watching them. Unregistered users, on the other hand, solely have the right to view distributed clips.

Besides uploading, YouTube also contains other valuable features. Playback is a major attribute on the site and enables users to view finished products if an Adobe Flash Player plug-in is installed on their computer. Browsers that support specific HTML5 versions, such as advanced video coding and WebM, also afford individuals the opportunity to view videos, although some clips are still inaccessible with this alternative. Additional features include 3D videos, various platforms and a new localization system.

How it All Began

At the beginning of 2005, YouTube was established by three former PayPal employees. The entire concept of the video-sharing website was developed over the course of a few months and started out as a technology start-up company. Its headquarters were initially located in San Mateo, California.

After its inception, the site grew faster than anticipated. By the summer of 2006, it was reported that thousands of videos were being uploaded every day and millions of viewers were watching clips per day. Numbers continued to increase and moved into the billions by 2010. Since then, YouTube has embarked on several new concepts, such as the ability to upload full-length videos and the free streaming of specific content. A new design was also launched to provide additional benefits to users.

Today, YouTube is headquartered in San Bruno, California. After being acquired by Google, the Google+ social networking site was integrated with YouTube which allow the site?s videos to be viewed from Google?s interface. YouTube is a dominant force in the online business market in the United States and it also ranks relatively high in other regions, including the United Kingdom. As of 2012, more than 4 billion videos are streamed per day.

Romney promises world's strongest military

SAN DIEGO (AP) ? Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney promised Monday to maintain an American military "with no comparable power anywhere in the world."

The likely Republican presidential nominee faced a San Diego crowd estimated at 5,000 in what was billed as a Memorial Day service paying tribute to the nation's war dead, not a campaign rally. The appearance came the day before Romney was expected to win enough delegates to claim his party's nomination, a formality that cements his status as President Barack Obama's general election opponent.

Without naming his general election rival on Monday, Romney drew clear contrasts with Obama on the issue of defense.

The Democratic president has proposed reducing the size of the military following the end of the U.S. combat role in Iraq and plans to remove troops from Afghanistan at the end of 2014.

"We have two courses we can follow: One is to follow in the pathway of Europe, to shrink our military smaller and smaller to pay for our social needs," Romney said outside the city's Veterans Memorial Center and Museum. "The other is to commit to preserve America as the strongest military in the world, second to none, with no comparable power anywhere in the world."

The White House and congressional Republicans have agreed to cut $487 billion in military spending over the next decade. Even with Obama's proposed cuts in the military budget, the U.S. would remain by far the world's dominant military power. The Pentagon's budget this year exceeds $600 billion. Closest rival China said this year its defense budget will top $100 billion for the first time, although the U.S. claims China spends twice as much.

Across the country in Washington, Obama marked the solemn holiday with remembrances at Arlington National Cemetery, and later at the Vietnam War Memorial marking the 50th anniversary of U.S. involvement in Vietnam.

He noted that for the first time in nine years "Americans are not fighting and dying in Iraq. After a decade under the dark cloud of war, we can see the light of the new day on the horizon."

The candidates' comments underscored the political and practical effects the presidential contest could have on America's role in the world.

A new Gallup survey found that veterans prefer Romney over Obama by a double-digit margin, 58 percent to 34 percent. That voting bloc, consisting mostly of older men, makes up 13 percent of the adult population.

Obama won the presidency handily four years ago while losing veterans by 10 points to Sen. John McCain, a former Navy pilot. Neither Obama nor Romney served in the military. Romney, 65, did not serve in Vietnam. His campaign says he received deferments for his Mormon mission to France and academic studies. He later entered the draft, but his number was not called, a spokesman said. Obama, 50, was a child during the Vietnam conflict.

In San Diego, Romney was joined by McCain, a Vietnam veteran who spent more than five years as a prisoner of war. McCain said that Romney, "I believe, is fully qualified to be commander in chief."

Romney noted that he visited Afghanistan and Iraq during his term as Massachusetts governor. But he has limited foreign policy experience.

Still, Romney has been critical of Obama's plans to reduce the military, in addition to the administration's policy toward Syria's handling of the uprising against President Bashar Assad's government.

In a written statement Sunday, Romney said Obama "can no longer ignore calls from congressional leaders in both parties to take more assertive steps in Syria." Romney said the current approach has only given Syrian leaders more time to crackdown on protesters.

World leaders blame the Syrian government for the weekend killing of more than 100 people, including 49 children and 34 women, following peaceful protests.

"I wish I could tell you that the world is a safe place today. It is not," Romney said Monday, ticking off a list of threats including Iran, Pakistan, China, Russia, Venezuela and Mexican drug cartels. He did not mention Syria.

He spoke a day before Texas voters were likely to give him enough delegates to formally clinch the Republican presidential nomination.

Texas' Tuesday primary offers 152 delegates, and Romney is just 68 delegates shy of the 1,144 needed to become the nominee.

Romney said Monday that America's military might is needed "not so that we just win wars, but so we can prevent wars."

"A strong America is the best deterrent to war that has ever been invented," he said.

For something so simple, pasta is serious business

ROME (AP) ? They twirled, they sniffed, they slurped, they chewed.

The dozen housewives who gathered in a Rome hotel on a recent afternoon took their work terribly seriously, rating plates of pasta for chewiness, saltiness, gumminess or done-ness ? that perfect balance known as "al dente," or firm to the bite.

Pasta is serious business in Italy, and the recent blind taste test organized by the world's biggest pasta maker drove home that an awful lot of thought goes into making the simple combination of durum wheat semolina and water from which Italy's national dish is made.

"The simpler it is, the more testing it takes," said Stefania Fochi, in charge of consumer testing for market leader Barilla, which organized the taste test.

Pasta sales worldwide have grown steadily over the past three years, to euros 22.3 billion last year, according to Euromonitor research. In Italy, however, sales have fallen steadily over that same timeframe as the economy suffers and stores are forced to offer discounts. National pasta sales dropped to euros 2.7 billion last year from euros 3.1 billion in 2009 ? meaning spaghetti makers in these days of austerity need to try harder to keep their customers loyal.

Granted, in Italy, it's not a huge challenge given that most Italians eat a plate of pasta ? be it spaghetti alla carbonara, penne al ragu or orecchiette with broccoli ? at least once a day. But they are terribly discerning customers: A noodle is not just a noodle.

"Some were sticky, some were good, al dente and cooked the right amount of time," said Stefania De Rossi, a 46-year-old mother of three who was selected for the taste test because of her family's daily pasta habit. "I liked the last one (identified only by its code name: V36). It wasn't super smooth, it was a bit rough but seemed better."

Her pickiness stems in part from Italians' particular obsession with food: Eating in Italy is taken very seriously on both a family and cultural level. The Slow Food movement was born here and you can smell, see and taste this way of life at this time of year in outdoor markets, exploding with bundles of fresh asparagus now that the green and purple hills of artichokes have begun to wane.

And what better way to enjoy those asparagus tips than to sautee them in olive oil with bits of speck, a smoky cut of prosciutto, and toss the whole thing with a small mound of linguine?

"Pasta is truly the symbol, the emblem not just of Italian food ... but the principal plate of the Mediterranean diet," said Amelia Germoleo, vice director of the National Pasta Museum in Rome. "It's profoundly rooted in the culture, the lifestyle, the 'being' of Italy."

The museum, which is currently closed for renovations, seeks to enlighten visitors about pasta's past, including the very Italian origins of dried pasta, the stuff that comes in packages and can be preserved, as opposed to egg-based fresh pasta that must be eaten quickly.

It turns out Marco Polo didn't bring spaghetti to the West from China. Rather, Germoleo said, the earliest known origins of dried pasta date from 12th century Sicily. The Norman king of Sicily, King Ruggero II, instructed a geographer to write a book about all that was known of the world.

In 1138, the geographer, Idrisi, reported back that the settlement of Trabia, west of Palermo, was making a type of vermicelli that was "sufficient to provide not only for Calabria but also the Muslim and Christian territories, where numerous cargoes are sent by sea," according a citation of the book in a museum publication, "Time for Pasta."

"This debunks the myth that Marco Polo brought it from China," Germoleo said. "Dried pasta is absolutely Italian."

Agostino Macri, a food security expert at the National Consumer's Union, said that pasta was in the "genome of Italians."

"A good dish of pasta puts you in a good mood," he said. But he cautioned against going overboard in consuming it, particularly with specialties like spaghetti all'amatriciana, a heavy dish using tomatoes and bacon-like pancetta that is common on Roman trattoria menus.

"It has a lot of calories," he warned.

The pasta that was served to the blind tasters had none of that: simply spaghetti tossed with a dash of olive oil. Each of the five brands tested ? Barilla, De Cecco, Gragnano and supermarket brands Coop and Conad ? was cooked in 1 liter of water salted with 7 grams of sea salt for every 100 grams of pasta.

While each sample cooked, women in white lab coats and latex gloves handed out small packets of noodles as they appear in the package, giving the whole affair a sterile, clinical feel when most Italians would tuck into a plate of pasta around the dinner table.

The testers ran their fingers slowly over the slender sticks, caressed them, noted the flecks of brown on the golden strands of semolina and the slight roughness of the grain in their hands. And then they answered an 11-page questionnaire asking them how the color, thickness, smell, taste and texture appealed to them. The results aren't for public consumption, Barilla said.

"For us the pasta is very important, especially for me," Gabriella Brescia said after sampling her five dishes as she packed up and headed home. "I could give up everything except pasta."

Energy Risks in North Africa and the Middle East

The Burke Chair is issuing a new, expanded edition of its overview of Energy Risks in North Africa and the Middle East. This analysis is available on the CSIS web site at http://csis.org/files/publication/120524_MENA_Threat_Brief.pdf

Section One focuses on demand issues and their impact on global and regional demand for liquid fuels, impact on supply, price issues, and the special conditions affecting US demand for energy imports. It indicates that growth in Asian demand for MENA oil and gas exports will be high through 2035 (the cutoff date for projections), creating a ?demand vulnerability? in periods of moderate to high economic growth that will keep prices high and stimulate major increases in production.? It also shows that US political posturing about energy independence is just that ? dishonest political opportunism that does not reflect the total different results of US government modeling and analysis.

Section Two deals with the risks that MENA dependence on oil exports creates for MENA states. It highlights the economic problems of over-dependence on petroleum exports, the problems created by energy subsidies and their imp0eact in cutting export capacity, and the growing risk posed by gross inefficiency in energy use and pollution.

Section Three covers North Africa. It indicates that the projected growth in Algerian and Libyan supply will he limited by global standards, but be of importance to Europe. It also indicates that Algeria and Libya are moderate risk countries because of the political uncertainties in each state and their uncertain ability to attract sustained energy investment over time.

Section Four Covers Egypt and the Levant. It indicates that Egypt will increase some aspect of gas projection, but that both Egypt and Syria are steadily declining oil producers, and increases in Egyptian gas exports may have a local impact but only a token impact on world markets.? Egypt emerges as a moderate risk country and Syria as a high risk country.

Section Five? covers the Gulf and Yemen. It shows that the Gulf remains the key source of additional oil and gas production in spite of major projected gains in the rest of the world?s output. It also shows that these increases are highly dependent on two high risk countries ? Iran and Iraq. Yemen is a high risk country, but one with negligible and declining impact on world exports. The Southern Gulf producers ?Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, the UAE and Saudi Arabia? -- face some individual problems but are rate as low risk with the exception of the potential impact of a future conflict in the Gulf.

Section Six covers the risk of a war involving Iran. There is no way to predict the form such a conflict might take or to estimate a probability in any meaningful mathematical model. The risk of some clash in the coming three years is, however, at least moderate and the risk of a serious clash over time will rise to high if Iran does not abandon its nuclear program, and improve its relations with its neighbors.

The first five sections attempt to summarize and quantify key trends in energy production and exports and the key factors shaping risks in a given country and area. Section Six focuses on the build-up and capability of Iranian forces ?to close the Gulf? and present a range of threats from low-level asymmetric warfare, to a Gulf-wide conflict that could involve the use of long-range missiles..

Money Pros And Cons ? Personal Finance Basics | personal finance ...

Money Pros and Cons ? Personal Finance Basics

Is money good or is it bad? Depending on what way you look at it, cash can be good but it can be a bad thing as well. Money is good because it creates the opportunity for any type of lifestyle you desire. It can fund your dreams like going on vacation or could allow you to retire early. Cash provides the ability to have a family, live in the neighborhood you want and allows to you to do anything you can imagine. Smart money management is the easiest form of personal finance basics.

The down side to money is if you live for it. By slaving away at a job that you don?t enjoy to earn money makes it bad. Money misguides people enough to become workaholics and desert their friends and family.

Without question cash does have more good aspects than bad. Unfortunately the bad things related to money are often linked with misuse or greed.

What is Money to you?

Is earning boat loads of money to live anyway you want important to you or would you like to work just enough so you can kick back and enjoy a modest lifestyle. The options are easy with hardly any grey area and we all make that choice when dealing with the personal finance basics in our lives.

If you feel that working 60 hours every week so you can boot around in an expensive vehicle and live in a 3500 square foot home is the way you enjoy living then good for you. Sadly, I believe|in my opinion} you are a slave to money if you must work that much to own an expensive car and oversized home.

On the other side of the scale if you only desire all play and zero responsibility then you are a slave to yourself. Cash probably has little value to you and you make just enough to get by. Is that bad? Who am I to say.

I believe there is a happy medium when it comes to money. It?s possible to get all of the pros and none of the cons. Hard work is incredibly important but it?s good to know that you should not work for money. The more you understand personal finance basics, the more it will start to give back to you and the less likely you will be it?s slave.

The best advice I can give is to find an occupation that you truly enjoy and would love to do for free anyway. If you?re unhappy at your job its likely because you only see the how much you make at your job. The way to make money a good thing in your life is to alter the way you think and love where you are. The great thing is, the more passion you put into everything in your life, the more the money will actually flow in. In short you will work less and make more.

DEAN WATSON Imposing Elements music review by UMUR

4 stars"Imposing Elements" is the 2nd full-length studio album by Canadian jazz/fusion artist Dean Watson. The album is a self-released affair, created, produced and mastered by Dean Watson. "Imposing Elements" is a music/art collaboration between Dean Watson and artist Ron Eady. The latter?s painting (which has the same title as the album and has inspired Dean Watson to write the music) graces the album cover. This method was also the case with "Unsettled (2010)", which also features a cover artwork with a painting by Ron Eady.

The music on the album is what I?d call adventurous jazz/fusion with edgy rythm work and keyboards and guitars providing lead themes and solos. Dean Watson is a regular one-man army delivering tight performances on all instruments. The music can be both dark and atmospheric (at times even ambient) and more edgy and powerful too (there are even some chunky metallic sounding riffs on the album although they are not dominant). One of the great assets of the music (at least to my ears) are the memorable themes. While there are plenty of soloing for those who enjoy that, the fact that Watson always returns to something relatively hook laden is something I much appreciate. I think the music on "Imposing Elements" features a good balance between accessibility and challenging it?s audience.

"Imposing Elements" is another great release by Dean Watson and while there are a few sections I find a bit too "new age" sounding for my personal taste, the album overall comes off very intriguing. A 3.5 - 4 star (75%) rating is warranted.

Joe The Plumber: Joe Biden's Comments Were 'Asinine'

Samuel Wurzelbacher, commonly known as "Joe the Plumber," went after Joe Biden on Thursday, calling the vice president's comments on Mitt Romney's private equity record "asinine" and "elitist."

"It was insulting," Wurzelbacher said during an interview with Fox News. "For Joe Biden to sit there and say who can be president, who's qualified and who isn't, is just asinine, especially with the track record they left behind them. If I was this administration, or Joe Biden himself, I wouldn't want anybody looking at my record."

On Tuesday, the vice president went after Mitt Romney's record at private equity firm Bain Capital, arguing that the former Massachusetts governor's business past does not qualify him to be president.

"That doesn't mean that private equity guys are bad guys -- they're not," Biden said during a campaign stop at New Hampshire's Keene State College. "But that no more qualifies you to be president than being a plumber. And, by the way, there're an awful lot of smart plumbers. All kidding aside, it's not the same job requirement."

Wurzelbacher, a Republican, is running against Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D) for the congressional seat in Ohio's ninth district. He said that blue-collar workers like him are qualified to run for office, and predicted that he and other candidates from similar backgrounds would triumph in 2012.

"The middle class workers or blue collar workers, we can do it, and, this election cycle we?re going to do it," he said. "People are going to see it happen, and it?s going to be great, so they?re going to be eating those words."

He also offered a jab at the vice president's tendency to go off-message.

"If it wasn't for him, we would never get the truth from this administration," Wurzelbacher said.

Wurzelbacher came to political prominence during the 2008 campaign, when he asked Obama about his small business tax plan during a campaign event.

?I think that when you spread the wealth around, it?s good for everybody,? Obama said.

John McCain's campaign immediately started to use Obama's response to suggest that the then-senator had a socialist agenda. The McCain team also adapted Wurzelbacher as a mascot of sorts, referencing him in debates and bringing him along on campaign stops.
